FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I cut off the surplus net when I have enclosed the area I need to use?
NO, NEVER cut nets. With Standard Electranets fold the net back along the fence. With Masterfence the surplus net should be erected but not doubled along itself. When earth lines (negative) touch live lines (positive) the fence will short out.

What sort of fence energiser should I use?
If your property already has a mains powered electric fence then your electranet can be attached to this. If you wish a flexible and easily portable system then you should use a battery powered energizer running off a 12v battery which can be powered by a solar cell or alternatively by recharging the battery with a battery charger. We do not stock energizers but they are readily available from your rural supply company or from www.redsnapr.co.nz

How many nets can I attach to my energizer?
Depends on the Peak Joule output. For example: A 12v35Ah lead acetate battery connected to a 35mA energizer with a suggested peak joule output of 0.17 will last for 5 -7 weeks according to battery capacity and can power up to approx 5 nets. A 240vAC energiser supplied from ACmains50hz with power consumption of 3watts and with a suggested peak joule output of 1.5 will power up to approx 20 nets.

How do I make a gate?
Purchase another post. This should be inserted into the net the width you wish the gate to be from the end post that is closest to the energizer. (So you can turn the power off when entering the enclosure).
